The Maldon U3A active Social Committee organised a Jazz Evening provided by the Hugh Rainey Jazz Band in Maldon Town Hall on 28th April 2007.
Tables were laid out for the guests to sit to listen to the music - sorry not enough room to dance.

Hugh Rainey's Trumpet & muffles, none of that
electronic "whow whow" sound with this band.The Band was formed in 1970 and has played continiously in Essex and London clubs & concerts.

Brian Hanscombe, Trombone/Vocals; Hugh Rainey, Trumpet/Vocals; Brian Hart, Clarient/Saxophone.The Band played a healthy diversity of music from Bourbon Street to Swing Street, Dixeland to DukeEllington. They also feature Sidney Bechet, Bix, Louis and the Duke, Oliver Basie, Fats & Jelly Roll, not forgetting George Lewis and Condon.

The Guest Artist was John Crocker who for some 30 years played Clarinet with the Chris Barber Band.
John Crocker really made his Clarinet "talk" - he was simply terrific.
Sitting behind on Drums/Vocal is John Baker.
